Traditional Japanese pan with ceramic lid called donabe (土 鍋) that can be used directly on the stove or in the oven.
Typically used for the preparation of "nabe" recipes which involve boiling the ingredients in the pot.
Matte black surface (kuroi) with light brown linear decoration.
New provenance Yokkaichi, Mie. It is therefore also known as Yokkaichi-Banko ware. It is believed to have originated in the 18th century.
